Not recommended in pregnancy due to high risk of birth defects and neurodevelopmental disorders. Risk of liver toxicity (especially in children), pancreatitis, hyperammonemia, thrombocytopenia and bleeding; monitor LFTs and blood counts. Use caution in liver disease, urea cycle disorders, and with CNS depressants; may cause drowsiness affecting driving.
