Uses & Benefits
Reduction of raised intraocular pressure in open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension when monotherapy is insufficient
How It Works
Dorzolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that decreases aqueous humour formation, lowering intraocular pressure. Timolol is a non-selective beta-blocker that also reduces aqueous humour production, providing additive IOP-lowering effect.
Directions for Use
For ophthalmic use only. Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily or as prescribed. Wash hands before use; avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye. If using other eye drops, keep a gap of 5–10 minutes. Remove contact lenses before instillation and reinsert only if advised; follow doctor’s instructions for PF packs.
Side Effects
Burning/stinging in eye, blurred vision, eye irritation/redness, foreign body sensation, bitter taste, dry eyes, headache
Warnings & Precautions
For eye use only. Timolol may be absorbed systemically and can worsen asthma/COPD, cause bradycardia, hypotension or heart block—use with caution in patients with respiratory disease, cardiac conduction disorders, heart failure or on beta-blockers. Dorzolamide (a sulfonamide) may cause hypersensitivity; stop and seek care if rash, swelling, severe eye pain or vision changes occur. Use caution in severe renal impairment and in patients with corneal problems. May cause temporary blurred vision—avoid driving until vision is clear.
