Uses & Benefits
Bacterial infections such as ear (otitis media), sinusitis, throat/tonsillitis, lower respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, dental infections caused by susceptible organisms
How It Works
Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic that kills bacteria by inhibiting cell wall synthesis. Clavulanic acid inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes produced by some bacteria, protecting amoxicillin and extending its antibacterial spectrum.
Directions for Use
Oral dry syrup: reconstitute with boiled and cooled water up to the mark, shake well. Give the prescribed dose using a measuring device, preferably at the start of a meal to improve tolerance; shake well before each dose. Complete the full course as directed by the doctor.
Schedule H: use only on prescription. Do not use in patients with allergy to penicillins/cephalosporins or history of amoxicillin-clavulanate–associated jaundice/hepatic dysfunction. Use with caution in liver disease, renal impairment (dose adjustment may be needed), infectious mononucleosis (rash risk), and in patients with history of severe allergy. Seek urgent care for severe diarrhoea, rash, breathing difficulty, or signs of liver problems (yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine).
Store dry powder in a cool, dry place below 25°C, protected from moisture. After reconstitution, store in a refrigerator (2–8°C) and use within 7 days (or as per pack insert); do not freeze; keep bottle tightly closed.
