Gingivitis, periodontitis and other gum infections; reduction of dental plaque; adjunct to oral hygiene after dental procedures; mouth ulcers and oral infections where antiseptic mouthwash is advised
How It Works
Chlorhexidine is a broad-spectrum antiseptic that binds to oral tissues and tooth surfaces and disrupts bacterial cell membranes. This reduces oral bacterial load and inhibits plaque formation, helping control gum inflammation and infection.
Directions for Use
Use as a mouthwash: typically 10–15 mL undiluted, swish/gargle for 30–60 seconds and spit out, 2 times daily or as directed by a dentist. Do not swallow. Preferably use after brushing; avoid eating/drinking for ~30 minutes after use. If using toothpaste, rinse well with water before using the mouthwash or use at a different time to reduce inactivation by anionic toothpaste ingredients.
For external use in the mouth only; do not swallow. Prolonged use may cause brown staining of teeth/tongue and increased calculus—usually reversible with dental cleaning. Stop and seek medical advice if rash, swelling, breathing difficulty, or severe mouth irritation occurs (rare hypersensitivity). Avoid contact with eyes/ears; rinse with water if contact occurs. Use with caution in children (risk of swallowing); use only under dental/medical advice.
