Deflazacort is a glucocorticoid that reduces inflammation and suppresses immune activity by decreasing production of inflammatory mediators. It helps relieve swelling, pain, and allergic symptoms.
Take exactly as prescribed, preferably with food or milk. Do not stop suddenly if used for more than a few days; dose taper may be needed. Follow pediatric dosing carefully when applicable.
Common side effects of Defcort 1 Tablet may include:
Prolonged use can cause infections, adrenal suppression, growth retardation in children, osteoporosis, cataract/glaucoma, hypertension and diabetes worsening. Avoid exposure to chickenpox/measles; avoid live vaccines while on immunosuppressive doses. Consult doctor for fever, persistent sore throat, or unusual bruising.
