Iron (elemental) (as Ferric Ammonium Citrate), Folic Acid, Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) (strengths not specified)
Prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anaemia, nutritional anaemia due to iron/folate/vitamin B12 deficiency; supportive therapy in increased requirements (e.g., pregnancy/lactation) as advised by a doctor
Ferric ammonium citrate replenishes body iron stores needed to form haemoglobin and support oxygen transport. Folic acid and vitamin B12 help in DNA synthesis and maturation of red blood cells, improving red cell production and correcting megaloblastic components of anaemia.
Oral solution. Shake well before use and measure with a cup/spoon. Take as directed by the physician, usually after food to reduce stomach upset. Avoid taking at the same time as milk, tea/coffee, antacids or calcium supplements (keep a 2-hour gap).
Common side effects of Haem Up Sugar Free Liquid may include:
Do not use in iron overload states (e.g., hemochromatosis/hemosiderosis) or anaemia not due to iron/folate/B12 deficiency unless advised. Use with caution in peptic ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, and in patients with repeated blood transfusions. Accidental overdose of iron can be fatal in children—keep out of reach. May cause dark stools; this is usually harmless. If allergy, severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, or blood in stools occurs, seek medical advice.
