Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) powder; glucose and electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride, citrate) (strengths not specified)
Prevention and treatment of dehydration and electrolyte loss due to diarrhoea, vomiting, heat exhaustion, excessive sweating; fluid replacement in mild to moderate dehydration
ORS provides an optimal balance of glucose and electrolytes to enhance water absorption from the intestine via sodium-glucose co-transport. This helps restore body fluids, correct electrolyte imbalance and reduce symptoms of dehydration.
Dissolve the entire sachet in the recommended quantity of clean drinking water as mentioned on the pack; stir well until fully dissolved. Give frequent small sips; continue even if diarrhoea persists. Do not add sugar/salt/milk; use prepared solution within 24 hours (discard leftover).
Common side effects of Walyte ORS Powder Orange may include:
Use exact dilution—over-concentrated solution can worsen diarrhoea and cause high sodium. Use with caution in severe dehydration (needs medical care/IV fluids), persistent vomiting, blood in stool, high fever, very low urine output, or symptoms lasting >24 hours in children. Caution in kidney disease, heart failure, uncontrolled hypertension, or conditions requiring sodium/potassium restriction; consult a doctor. Not for parenteral use.
