Cofheal Syrup

Cofheal Syrup contains Terbutaline (1.25mg/5ml) + Ambroxol (15mg/5ml) + Menthol (2.5mg/5ml) + Gabapentin (50mg/5ml) and is used for this medicine is used. Prescription required.

This medicine is used in the treatment of cough, chest congestion, common cold symptoms, muscle pain, joint pain, sprains and strains, backache, nerve pain, diabetic neuropathy, pain after shingles, fibromyalgia and epilepsy.

This medicine combines 4 active ingredients: Terbutaline, Ambroxol, Menthol and Gabapentin. Terbutaline loosens and thins the mucus in your airways so a cough clears it more easily, and eases the tightness that comes with congestion. Menthol is applied to the skin over a painful area, where it produces a warming or cooling sensation and reduces local pain and inflammation. Gabapentin calms the over-active nerve signals that cause burning, shooting and tingling pain.

Shake the bottle well before each dose and measure it with the cup, spoon or dropper supplied — a kitchen spoon is not an accurate measure. Take it with or after food. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.

See a doctor if a cough lasts more than a week, or comes with fever, breathlessness, chest pain or blood in the sputum. Do not give cough and cold preparations to young children except on a doctor's advice. Do not combine two cough preparations — they frequently contain the same ingredients, and the doses add up. Preparations containing codeine can cause dependence and must be used only for the period your doctor specifies. For external use only. Keep it away from the eyes, mouth and broken skin. Do not apply a heating pad or hot water bottle over the treated area — this can cause a burn. Do not bandage tightly over it unless your doctor has told you to. Wash your hands thoroughly after applying, unless your hands are the area being treated. Stop if the skin becomes severely irritated or blisters. This medicine causes drowsiness and unsteadiness, particularly when you start it or the dose goes up. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you. Never stop it suddenly. Stopping abruptly can cause anxiety, sleeplessness, sweating and, in people taking it for epilepsy, fits. Your doctor will taper it. Tell your doctor about any change in mood or any thoughts of harming yourself. The dose is usually built up slowly from a low starting point — follow the schedule your doctor gave you rather than jumping to the full dose. Pregabalin comes under Schedule H1 from 16 November 2026 and will then need a prescription and a pharmacy register entry.

Sedating ingredients add to the effect of alcohol and sleeping tablets. Decongestants such as phenylephrine and pseudoephedrine can raise blood pressure — tell your doctor if you are hypertensive. Topical anti-inflammatory gels add to the effect of the same medicine taken by mouth; tell your doctor if you use both. Opioid painkillers, alcohol, sleeping tablets and antihistamines all add to the drowsiness, and the combination with opioids can dangerously slow breathing. Antacids reduce the absorption of gabapentin — separate them by a couple of hours.

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze. Once opened, use it within the period printed on the pack. Keep out of the reach of children.
