Relief of painful muscle spasm associated with acute musculoskeletal conditions such as low back pain, neck pain, sprains/strains and other muscle contractures.
Thiocolchicoside is a centrally acting muscle relaxant. It reduces muscle spasm by modulating inhibitory neurotransmission (GABA/glycine pathways) in the spinal cord and brain, leading to decreased muscle tone and pain.
Take as prescribed by the doctor. Usually taken by mouth with water, preferably after food to reduce stomach upset. Do not exceed the prescribed dose or duration; typically used for short-term relief.
Diarrhoea, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, allergic rash
Prescription (Schedule H) medicine. May cause dizziness or drowsiness—avoid driving or operating machinery if affected. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration. Not recommended in pregnancy; avoid in breastfeeding unless advised by a doctor. Use with caution in patients with liver disease, seizure disorders/epilepsy, or severe gastrointestinal disease. Stop and seek medical help if allergic reactions occur.
Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness), sedatives/hypnotics, opioid analgesics, antiepileptic medicines (may affect seizure threshold), other muscle relaxants (additive effects).
