Treatment and prevention of iron deficiency anaemia, folate deficiency, anaemia during pregnancy and lactation, nutritional anaemia due to poor intake or blood loss

Ferrous ascorbate replenishes body iron stores required for haemoglobin formation and oxygen transport. Folic acid helps in DNA synthesis and red blood cell production, correcting folate-related megaloblastic anaemia. Together they improve haemoglobin and reduce anaemia symptoms.

Tablet. Take as directed by physician, usually 1 tablet once daily or as advised. Preferably take after food to reduce stomach upset; swallow whole with water. Avoid taking with milk/tea/coffee or antacids close to the dose.

Nausea, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, dark/black stools, metallic taste, heartburn

Do not use in iron overload states (e.g., haemochromatosis/haemosiderosis) or non–iron deficiency anaemia unless prescribed. Use with caution in peptic ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease and in patients receiving repeated blood transfusions. Keep out of reach of children—iron overdose can be fatal. If severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, or allergic symptoms occur, seek medical help.

Antacids, calcium supplements, milk, tea/coffee (reduce absorption), tetracyclines, quinolone antibiotics (ciprofloxacin/levofloxacin), levothyroxine, bisphosphonates, penicillamine, methyldopa, levodopa, chloramphenicol; separate administration by 2–4 hours where applicable

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep the container tightly closed.
