Important Warnings

High teratogenic risk: contraindicated in pregnancy; effective contraception required during treatment and for a prolonged period after stopping (as advised by doctor). Do not donate blood during therapy and for the advised period after stopping. Avoid vitamin A supplements and other retinoids (risk of toxicity). Monitor liver function tests and lipid profile; use caution in liver disease, high cholesterol/triglycerides, diabetes, depression, or alcohol use. May cause reduced night vision; caution while driving. Use sunscreen and avoid excessive sunlight.

Alcohol (increases formation of etretinate and prolongs teratogenic risk)
tetracyclines (risk of intracranial hypertension)
methotrexate (hepatotoxicity risk)
vitamin A/other retinoids (additive toxicity)
phenytoin (increased toxicity risk)
corticosteroids (may affect bone/lipid metabolism)
lipid-lowering medicines (monitor lipids)
