Albendazole 400 mg
Treatment of intestinal worm (helminth) infestations such as ascariasis (roundworm), hookworm infection, trichuriasis (whipworm), enterobiasis (pinworm), strongyloidiasis and tapeworm infection; also used for certain tissue infections like neurocysticercosis and hydatid disease as prescribed
Albendazole is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic. It inhibits microtubule formation and glucose uptake in worms, leading to energy depletion and death of the parasite.
Take as directed by a physician. For deworming, it is commonly taken as a single 400 mg dose; some infections need repeat dosing. Preferably take with food (fatty meal improves absorption, especially for tissue infections); swallow tablet with water.
Common side effects of Bendex 400 Tablet may include:
Not recommended in pregnancy (especially 1st trimester); rule out pregnancy before therapy for prolonged/high-dose use. Use with caution in liver disease; liver function tests may be needed for longer courses. May cause bone marrow suppression rarely (watch for fever/sore throat/easy bruising) in prolonged therapy. Treating neurocysticercosis can worsen neurological symptoms due to inflammatory response; may require steroids/antiepileptics under medical supervision.
