Levothyroxine is synthetic T4 thyroid hormone. It is converted to T3 in the body and restores normal thyroid hormone levels, improving metabolism, energy and temperature regulation.
Take once daily on an empty stomach with water, ideally 30-60 minutes before breakfast. Take at the same time every day; avoid taking with calcium/iron/antacids within 4 hours. Dose is individualized based on TSH.

Do not use for weight loss. Use caution in heart disease, arrhythmias and elderly; start low and titrate. Monitor TSH regularly; overdose can cause chest pain, breathlessness or severe palpitations. May reduce bone density with long-term excess dose.
