Cetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine that selectively blocks H1 histamine receptors. This reduces allergy symptoms like itching, sneezing, runny nose and hives with relatively less sedation than older antihistamines.
Oral tablet. Usually taken once daily; may be taken with or without food. Swallow with water; take at the same time each day. Dose may need adjustment in kidney impairment—use as advised by a doctor.
Common side effects of Okacet Tablet may include:
May cause sleepiness in some people—avoid driving or operating machinery if affected. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed) and in severe liver impairment. Caution in people with urinary retention/prostatic enlargement. Stop and seek medical help if allergic reaction occurs. Not meant for acute anaphylaxis.
