Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) powder (WHO ORS formulation): Glucose (anhydrous), Sodium chloride, Potassium chloride, Trisodium citrate dihydrate (strengths vary by sachet size)
Prevention and treatment of dehydration due to diarrhea, vomiting, excessive sweating/heat, and fluid loss; helps restore electrolytes
ORS provides glucose and electrolytes that enhance sodium and water absorption in the intestine via sodium-glucose co-transport. This helps rapidly replace lost fluids and salts and correct dehydration.
Dissolve the entire contents of the sachet in the specified quantity of clean drinking water as per pack instructions; stir well. Give small, frequent sips; can be taken with or without food. Use the prepared solution within 24 hours; do not add sugar or boil after reconstitution.
Common side effects of Ors Apple Drink may include:
Use only as directed for dilution—incorrect mixing can be harmful. Use caution in severe dehydration, shock, persistent vomiting, bloody diarrhea, high fever, or if symptoms persist >24 hours—seek medical care. Use with caution in kidney disease, heart failure, or patients on salt-restricted diets. Not a substitute for IV fluids in severe dehydration. Diabetics should use with medical advice due to glucose content.
