Mupirocin 2% w/w (topical cream)
Topical treatment of bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, infected eczema/dermatitis, folliculitis, and secondary bacterial infection of minor cuts, wounds and abrasions caused by susceptible bacteria (commonly Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes).
Mupirocin is a topical antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by reversibly binding to isoleucyl‑tRNA synthetase. This stops bacterial growth and helps clear the skin infection.
For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer 2-3 times daily or as prescribed. May be covered with sterile gauze. Use for the full prescribed duration; avoid contact with eyes, mouth, inside nose and large open wounds unless advised.
Common side effects of T Bact Cream may include:
Stop and seek medical advice if severe irritation, allergy (swelling, hives) or no improvement in 3-5 days. Prolonged use may lead to fungal overgrowth or resistance. Avoid use on large areas or broken skin for long periods, especially in patients with severe kidney disease (contains polyethylene glycol base). Not for ophthalmic use; avoid ingestion.
