Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of thyroxine (T4), a natural thyroid hormone. It is converted to the active hormone T3 in tissues and restores normal levels of thyroid hormone, helping regulate metabolism, energy, and growth.
Take orally once daily exactly as prescribed, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach 30–60 minutes before breakfast with water. Take at the same time daily. Avoid taking with calcium/iron/antacids; keep a gap of at least 4 hours. Do not stop or change dose without medical advice; dose is adjusted based on TSH/T4 tests.

Not for weight loss/obesity treatment; high doses can cause serious heart problems. Use with caution in heart disease (angina, arrhythmias), hypertension, elderly, osteoporosis, diabetes, and adrenal/pituitary insufficiency (ensure adrenal function treated before starting). Monitor TSH/T4 regularly; symptoms of overdose include chest pain, palpitations, nervousness, and excessive sweating—seek medical help. Contains narrow therapeutic index—do not interchange brands/doses without doctor’s advice.
