Treatment of hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid); thyroid hormone replacement after thyroidectomy or radioiodine therapy; TSH suppression therapy in certain thyroid cancers/goitre (as prescribed).
Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of thyroxine (T4), a natural thyroid hormone. It is converted to the active hormone T3 in the body and restores normal thyroid hormone levels, helping regulate metabolism, energy, and body functions.

Take at the same time daily; avoid taking with calcium/iron/antacids or high-fibre/soy foods—keep a 4-hour gap. Do not stop or change dose without medical advice; periodic TSH monitoring is required.

Dose adjustments needed in pregnancy, postpartum, and with weight changes. Not for weight loss/obesity. Use caution in adrenal insufficiency (treat first) and diabetes (may alter glucose control).
