Glimepiride 1 mg + Metformin hydrochloride (sustained release) 500 mg
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults to improve blood glucose control when diet and exercise alone or single therapy is insufficient.
Glimepiride (a sulfonylurea) increases insulin release from pancreatic beta cells and improves peripheral glucose utilization. Metformin SR (a biguanide) reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity, helping lower fasting and post‑meal blood sugar.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily with breakfast or the first main meal. Swallow tablet whole (do not crush/chew due to sustained release). Monitor blood glucose regularly; follow diet and exercise advice.
Common side effects of Zoryl M 1 Tablet may include:
Risk of hypoglycemia (higher with missed meals, alcohol, intense exercise, elderly); carry fast-acting glucose. Metformin can rarely cause lactic acidosis—seek urgent care for rapid breathing, severe weakness, abdominal pain, hypothermia. Avoid/use with caution in kidney impairment; periodic renal function tests needed. Use caution in liver disease, heart failure, dehydration, severe infection, or hypoxia. Temporarily stop before/after iodinated contrast procedures and major surgery as advised by doctor.
