Uses & Benefits
Self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) in people with diabetes; checking fasting, post-meal, and random blood sugar levels as advised by a doctor
How It Works
The strip contains enzymes and reagents that react with glucose in a small drop of capillary blood. The glucometer measures the electrical/optical signal from this reaction and calculates the blood glucose level.
Directions for Use
Use only with Accu-Chek Active meter. Insert strip as per meter instructions, apply a fresh finger-prick blood drop to the test area, and read the result on the meter. Use a new strip for each test; do not reuse. Test at times recommended by your clinician (e.g., fasting, before/after meals).
Side Effects
Finger-prick pain, minor bleeding, bruising, local infection (rare)
Warnings & Precautions
For in-vitro diagnostic use only. Use only compatible meter (Accu-Chek Active). Do not use expired, damaged, wet, or contaminated strips. Close vial cap immediately after removing a strip; moisture/heat can affect accuracy. If symptoms do not match results, repeat test and consult a doctor. Dispose of lancets/strips safely as biomedical waste/sharps.
Drug Interactions
High/low hematocrit, dehydration, shock, severe hypotension, and some interfering substances may affect glucose readings; follow meter/strip package insert for limitations. Drug interactions are generally not applicable as this is a diagnostic device.
