Gabatrixx Ointment

Gabatrixx Ointment contains Gabapentin (8%w/w) + Ketoprofen (5%w/w) + Capsaicin (0.035%w/w) + Methyl Salicylate (5%w/w) and is used for this medicine is used. Prescription required.

This medicine is used in the treatment of nerve pain, diabetic neuropathy, pain after shingles, fibromyalgia, epilepsy, pain, inflammation, arthritis, fever, period pain, muscle pain, joint pain, sprains and strains and backache.

This medicine combines 4 active ingredients: Gabapentin, Ketoprofen, Capsaicin and Methyl Salicylate. Gabapentin calms the over-active nerve signals that cause burning, shooting and tingling pain. Ketoprofen blocks the chemicals your body makes at a site of injury or inflammation, which reduces pain, swelling and fever. Capsaicin is applied to the skin over a painful area, where it produces a warming or cooling sensation and reduces local pain and inflammation. Methyl Salicylate is applied to the skin over a painful area, where it produces a warming or cooling sensation and reduces local pain and inflammation.

Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer and rub it in gently. Wash your hands before and after use, unless your hands are the area being treated. This is for use on the skin only — do not swallow it. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.

This medicine causes drowsiness and unsteadiness, particularly when you start it or the dose goes up. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you. Never stop it suddenly. Stopping abruptly can cause anxiety, sleeplessness, sweating and, in people taking it for epilepsy, fits. Your doctor will taper it. Tell your doctor about any change in mood or any thoughts of harming yourself. The dose is usually built up slowly from a low starting point — follow the schedule your doctor gave you rather than jumping to the full dose. Pregabalin comes under Schedule H1 from 16 November 2026 and will then need a prescription and a pharmacy register entry. Take it with or just after food, and for the shortest time that works. Stop and seek urgent care for black or tarry stools, vomiting blood, or severe stomach pain — this group can cause bleeding from the stomach. Long or high-dose use raises the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney injury, particularly in older people and those already at risk. Avoid if you are dehydrated or have an illness with vomiting or loose motions — the kidneys are vulnerable then. Must be avoided in the last three months of pregnancy. For external use only. Keep it away from the eyes, mouth and broken skin. Do not apply a heating pad or hot water bottle over the treated area — this can cause a burn. Do not bandage tightly over it unless your doctor has told you to. Wash your hands thoroughly after applying, unless your hands are the area being treated. Stop if the skin becomes severely irritated or blisters.

Opioid painkillers, alcohol, sleeping tablets and antihistamines all add to the drowsiness, and the combination with opioids can dangerously slow breathing. Antacids reduce the absorption of gabapentin — separate them by a couple of hours. Combining with a blood thinner or aspirin sharply raises the bleeding risk. Reduces the effect of blood pressure medicines and water tablets, and together with them can harm the kidneys. Never take two anti-inflammatory painkillers at the same time. Topical anti-inflammatory gels add to the effect of the same medicine taken by mouth; tell your doctor if you use both.

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Close the cap tightly after each use. Keep out of the reach of children.
