Capsule to be taken by mouth as directed by the physician. Commonly taken once daily; preferably after food to reduce stomach upset unless advised otherwise. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew.

Use only if advised, especially in patients with iron overload (haemochromatosis/haemosiderosis), repeated blood transfusions, peptic ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel disease, or known allergy to ingredients. Keep out of reach of children—iron overdose can be dangerous. If stools turn black this can be expected with iron; seek medical help if you have severe abdominal pain, vomiting, blood in stools, or symptoms of allergy.
Antacids, proton pump inhibitors, calcium supplements/milk, levothyroxine, tetracyclines, quinolones (ciprofloxacin/ofloxacin/levofloxacin), bisphosphonates, penicillamine, methyldopa—separate dosing by 2–4 hours as advised.
