Nitrocontin 6.4 Tablet

Nitrocontin 6.4 Tablet contains Nitroglycerin (Glyceryl Trinitrate) 6.4 mg prolonged-release tablet. Prescription required.

Prevention and long-term management of angina pectoris (chest pain) due to coronary artery disease; prophylaxis of angina attacks

Nitroglycerin is converted to nitric oxide in vascular smooth muscle, causing relaxation. It mainly dilates veins and coronary arteries, reducing preload and myocardial oxygen demand and improving blood flow to the heart.

Tablet (prolonged-release): take exactly as prescribed, usually swallowed whole with water; do not crush/chew/split. Can be taken with or without food; try to take at the same time each day. It is used for prevention, not for immediate relief of an acute angina attack unless your doctor has advised otherwise.

Headache, dizziness, flushing, nausea, lightheadedness, low blood pressure, palpitations, weakness

May cause significant hypotension—rise slowly from sitting/lying positions. Use with caution in low blood pressure, dehydration, severe anemia, recent heart attack, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, or increased intracranial pressure. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice. Prolonged nitrate therapy may require a daily nitrate-free interval to reduce tolerance as directed by physician.

Contraindicated with PDE-5 inhibitors (sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil) and riociguat due to severe hypotension. Additive BP-lowering with other antihypertensives, diuretics, alcohol, tricyclic antidepressants, antipsychotics. Ergot derivatives may reduce antianginal effect.

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture; keep in original packaging and out of reach of children.
