Prevention and treatment of dehydration due to diarrhoea, vomiting, excessive sweating, heat/exertion; helps restore fluid and electrolyte balance
ORS contains glucose and electrolytes that promote sodium and water absorption from the intestine via sodium–glucose co-transport. This rapidly replaces lost fluids and essential salts to correct dehydration.
Ready-to-drink oral rehydration beverage. Shake well, drink in small frequent sips as needed (more often during diarrhoea/vomiting/heat). Use as per age and severity of dehydration; consult a doctor for infants/young children or severe symptoms.
Nausea, abdominal discomfort, bloating, vomiting (rare)
Seek medical care urgently for severe dehydration, blood in stool, persistent vomiting, high fever, signs of shock, or if symptoms persist >24 hours in children. Use with caution in kidney disease, heart failure, uncontrolled diabetes, or if on a restricted sodium/potassium diet. Do not use if the pack is damaged or product appears spoiled. Not a substitute for medical treatment when severe dehydration is present.
No major interactions typically expected with ORS; use caution with medicines affecting electrolytes/fluid balance (diuretics, ACE inhibitors/ARBs, potassium supplements) in at-risk patients
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze. Once opened, keep tightly closed; consume as per label instructions.
