Control and prevention of dandruff (pityriasis capitis) and seborrhoeic dermatitis-associated flaking, itching and scaling of the scalp

Selenium sulfide has anti-dandruff and antifungal activity and reduces overgrowth of Malassezia species on the scalp. It also slows excessive shedding of scalp skin cells, decreasing flaking and scaling.

For external use on scalp. Wet hair and scalp, apply sufficient shampoo, lather and leave on for 2–3 minutes, then rinse thoroughly; repeat if needed. Use daily or as directed; once controlled, reduce frequency to maintain results. Avoid contact with eyes, face and broken/irritated skin.

Scalp irritation, itching, burning sensation, dryness or oiliness of scalp/hair, increased hair shedding, hair discoloration (especially in chemically treated/grey hair), unpleasant odor, skin rash

Do not use on broken/inflamed skin. Avoid eyes and mucous membranes; if contact occurs rinse well with water. Stop use and consult a doctor if severe irritation, blistering, rash or worsening occurs. Rinse thoroughly to reduce residue; may discolor hair/jewellery and increase risk of hair color changes after perming/bleaching—avoid use within 48 hours before/after chemical hair treatments. Keep out of reach of children; for external use only.

No significant systemic drug interactions expected with topical scalp use. Avoid using other irritant scalp products (strong keratolytics, harsh dyes/bleaches) concurrently as irritation/discoloration may increase.

Store at room temperature (below 25–30°C), tightly closed, away from direct sunlight and excess moisture. Do not freeze.
