Drug | Tablet
Symptomatic relief of common cold and flu symptoms such as fever, body ache/headache, sore throat pain, runny nose, sneezing, and nasal congestion/sinus congestion.
Paracetamol reduces fever and relieves pain by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the CNS. Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant (alpha-1 agonist) that constricts nasal blood vessels to reduce swelling and congestion. Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine (H1 blocker) that reduces sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes.
Oral tablet. Take as advised by doctor/pharmacist; typically taken after food with water. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose of paracetamol from all sources. Avoid taking with other cold/flu products containing paracetamol, antihistamines, or decongestants.
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, constipation, blurred vision, headache, nervousness, insomnia, palpitations, increased blood pressure
May cause sleepiness; avoid driving/operating machinery if affected. Use with caution in hypertension, heart disease, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, glaucoma, enlarged prostate/urinary retention, and liver disease or chronic alcohol use. Do not exceed paracetamol dose (risk of serious liver injury). Seek medical advice if symptoms persist, high fever continues, rash occurs, or in children/elderly or if taking multiple medicines.
Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness), other paracetamol-containing medicines (overdose risk), MAO inhibitors (within 14 days) and tricyclic antidepressants (may increase pressor effects), beta-blockers/antihypertensives (reduced effect/raised BP), other antihistamines (additive sedation/anticholinergic effects), warfarin (paracetamol may increase INR with prolonged use)
