Dengue tests compared
The right dengue test depends entirely on which day of fever you are on. Get this wrong and the result misleads.
The bottom line
Timing decides everything. In the first 1–5 days of fever, book the NS1 antigen — it is positive earliest. From about day 5 onward, NS1 starts to fade and the IgG/IgM antibodies become the useful test. If you are unsure of the day or want the safest single booking in the first week, many doctors advise NS1 plus IgM together. This is guidance, not a diagnosis — see a doctor for any high fever.

See price & bookDengue tests detect different things at different stages. NS1 is a viral protein that appears in the blood almost as soon as fever starts and stays detectable for roughly the first five days. That makes it the earliest and most useful test in the acute phase.
IgM and IgG are antibodies your body makes in response — they take several days to rise, so they are often still negative in the first few days and become informative later in the illness. Booking an antibody test too early, or NS1 too late, is the commonest reason a dengue test 'misses'.

| Best from day 5 onward | Fading | Yes |

Widal vs Blood Culture for Typhoid
The cheap Widal test is famously unreliable on its own. Here's what it can and can't tell you — and the better option.
CBC vs Full Body Checkup
A CBC is one focused blood test. A full body checkup screens many organs at once. Here's which fits your reason for testing.
A registered doctor reviews your symptoms and history, tells you exactly which test you need, and interprets the results with you.
