Cefpodoxime proxetil 91.4 mg (equivalent to cefpodoxime 65 mg) per mL oral drops
Bacterial infections such as ear infection (otitis media), throat/tonsillitis, sinusitis, chest/lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and skin/soft tissue infections in children
Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It kills bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. It works only against susceptible bacterial infections, not viral illnesses like common cold.
Use as prescribed by the pediatrician. Measure the dose with the provided dropper; give at the same time each day. Usually given with food to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset. If supplied as dry syrup/drops, reconstitute with boiled and cooled water up to the mark and shake well before each dose; complete the full course.
Common side effects of Advent Orange 91.4 Drop may include:
Do not use in patients with known allergy to cefpodoxime/cephalosporins; use caution in penicillin allergy (possible cross-reactivity). Use with caution in kidney impairment; dose adjustment may be needed. Persistent diarrhea may indicate antibiotic-associated colitis—seek medical help. Use only for bacterial infections and complete the prescribed course to reduce resistance.
