Spironolactone 25 mg
Edema (fluid retention) due to heart failure, liver cirrhosis or kidney disease, Hypertension (high blood pressure), Primary hyperaldosteronism, Hypokalemia prevention/treatment
Spironolactone is a potassium-sparing diuretic and aldosterone antagonist. It blocks aldosterone receptors in the kidney, increasing sodium and water excretion while conserving potassium, thereby reducing fluid overload and blood pressure.
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Usually taken orally once daily or in divided doses; take with food to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset. Take at the same time each day; avoid potassium supplements/salt substitutes unless advised.
Common side effects of Aldactone 25 Tablet may include:
Risk of high potassium (hyperkalemia), especially in kidney disease, diabetes, dehydration, or when combined with ACE inhibitors/ARBs or potassium supplements. Avoid in severe kidney impairment, anuria, Addison’s disease, or known hyperkalemia. Monitor serum potassium, sodium and kidney function regularly. May cause dizziness; use caution while driving. Use caution in liver disease.
