Cetirizine hydrochloride 5 mg/5 mL
Allergic rhinitis (sneezing, runny/blocked nose, itchy/watery eyes), Urticaria (hives) and other allergic skin conditions with itching
Cetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine. It blocks histamine (H1) receptors, reducing allergy symptoms like sneezing, itching, watery eyes and hives. It generally causes less drowsiness than older antihistamines, though sleepiness can still occur in some people.
Take as prescribed by the doctor. Measure with a dosing cup/spoon; can be taken with or without food. If it causes drowsiness, prefer taking it in the evening; do not exceed recommended dose especially in children.
Common side effects of Alerid Syrup may include:
May cause drowsiness—avoid driving/operating machinery until you know your response. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment may be needed) and in elderly patients. Do not use without medical advice in very young children; follow pediatric dosing. Seek medical help if severe allergic reaction occurs (swelling of face/lips, breathing difficulty).
