Furosemide 40 mg + Amiloride 5 mg
Treatment of edema (fluid retention) associated with heart failure, liver cirrhosis or kidney disease; management of hypertension where a diuretic combination is appropriate
Furosemide is a loop diuretic that increases excretion of sodium, chloride and water by inhibiting the Na-K-2Cl transporter in the loop of Henle. Amiloride is a potassium-sparing diuretic that blocks epithelial sodium channels in the distal tubule, helping prevent potassium loss and enhancing diuresis.
Take as prescribed by the doctor, preferably in the morning to avoid nighttime urination. Swallow the tablet with water; may be taken with or without food. Do not stop or change dose without medical advice; regular monitoring of electrolytes and kidney function may be needed.
Common side effects of Amifru 40 Tablet may include:
Risk of dehydration and electrolyte disturbances; monitor sodium, potassium, magnesium and kidney function. May cause dizziness—use caution while driving. Use with caution in kidney or liver impairment, diabetes, gout and in elderly. Avoid if anuric (not passing urine). Hyperkalemia risk increases with kidney disease or when used with potassium supplements/other potassium-sparing medicines.
