Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery (post-operative nausea and vomiting)
Ondansetron is a selective 5-HT3 (serotonin) receptor antagonist. It blocks serotonin receptors in the gut and in the chemoreceptor trigger zone, reducing the vomiting reflex.
Administer by a healthcare professional as IV injection/infusion or IM injection as prescribed. Dose and schedule depend on indication (chemotherapy/radiotherapy/post-operative).
Common side effects of Anseetron Inj may include:
May cause QT prolongation and serious arrhythmias (risk higher with congenital long QT, electrolyte imbalance, heart disease, or QT-prolonging drugs). Use with caution in hepatic impairment (dose adjustment may be needed). Seek urgent care for palpitations, fainting, or severe dizziness. Risk of serotonin syndrome when used with serotonergic medicines. Hypersensitivity reactions possible.
