Important Warnings

Use with caution in kidney disease, kidney stones, hypercalcemia, hypervitaminosis D, sarcoidosis or other granulomatous diseases. Avoid taking additional high-dose vitamin D or calcium supplements unless advised. Overdose may cause high calcium levels leading to confusion, dehydration, arrhythmias or kidney problems—seek medical help if symptoms occur. Monitor calcium/vitamin D levels if on long-term therapy.

Thiazide diuretics (risk of hypercalcemia)
digoxin/other cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with hypercalcemia)
anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital/carbamazepine (reduced vitamin D effect)
rifampicin (reduced effect)
corticosteroids (reduced effect)
cholestyramine/orlistat/mineral oil (reduced absorption)
aluminum- or magnesium-containing antacids (caution especially in renal impairment)
