Epilepsy (generalized and focal seizures), prevention of migraine (as prescribed), bipolar disorder/mania (as prescribed)
Controlled-release valproate increases brain GABA activity and reduces excessive neuronal firing. The chrono/CR formulation releases medicine gradually to maintain steadier blood levels.
Take with food at the same time each day. Swallow whole; do not crush or chew controlled-release tablets. Do not stop suddenly; follow your doctor’s titration schedule.
Common side effects of Epilex Chrono 200 Tablet may include:
Risk of serious liver injury and pancreatitis; monitor for jaundice, severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting. High risk in pregnancy (major birth defects and developmental delay); ensure effective contraception and specialist review. Monitor liver function tests and blood counts; caution with bleeding tendency. May cause sedation; avoid driving if affected.
