Metformin hydrochloride 850 mg (sustained release)
Type 2 diabetes mellitus; improves glycemic control with diet and exercise
Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral glucose uptake. It also reduces intestinal glucose absorption, helping lower blood glucose and HbA1c.
Take as prescribed with food (often once daily). Swallow whole; do not crush/chew sustained-release tablets. Take at the same time each day.
Common side effects of Exermet SR 850 Tablet may include:
Lactic acidosis risk increases with renal impairment, dehydration, severe infection, excessive alcohol, or heart/liver disease. Monitor kidney function; dose adjustment/avoidance may be needed in reduced eGFR. Hold temporarily before iodinated contrast studies or surgery per medical advice.
