Febuxostat 40 mg
Chronic management of hyperuricemia in gout, prevention of gout flares by lowering uric acid (not for treatment of acute gout attack)
Febuxostat inhibits xanthine oxidase, the enzyme responsible for converting hypoxanthine and xanthine to uric acid. This lowers serum uric acid levels and helps prevent urate crystal deposition and gout attacks over time.
Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily, with or without food. Gout flares can increase when starting therapy; your doctor may prescribe flare prophylaxis (e.g., colchicine/NSAID) initially. Do not stop abruptly without medical advice.
Common side effects of Febustat 40 Tablet may include:
Not for acute gout pain relief. Monitor liver function as advised. Use caution in patients with cardiovascular disease; discuss risks and benefits with your doctor. Contraindicated with azathioprine or mercaptopurine due to severe toxicity risk. Inform doctor if you have kidney or liver disease.
