Uses of Febustat 40 Tablet

Chronic management of hyperuricemia in gout, prevention of gout flares by lowering uric acid (not for treatment of acute gout attack)

• •Helps prevent gout attacks long term
• •Reduces urate crystal deposition
• •Helps prevent gout-related joint damage
• •Suitable for patients intolerant to allopurinol (as advised)

How it works

Febuxostat inhibits xanthine oxidase, the enzyme responsible for converting hypoxanthine and xanthine to uric acid. This lowers serum uric acid levels and helps prevent urate crystal deposition and gout attacks over time.

Directions for use

Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily, with or without food. Gout flares can increase when starting therapy; your doctor may prescribe flare prophylaxis (e.g., colchicine/NSAID) initially. Do not stop abruptly without medical advice.
