Phenobarbitone increases GABA-mediated inhibition and reduces excitatory neuronal activity. This stabilizes electrical activity in the brain and helps prevent seizures.
Use only as prescribed. Measure dose with a calibrated measuring cup/spoon or oral syringe; do not use household spoon. Give at the same time daily; do not stop abruptly.
Common side effects of Gardenal Syrup may include:
Habit-forming potential; use strictly under medical supervision. Sudden withdrawal can trigger seizures. Can cause significant drowsiness and impaired coordination. Watch for allergic reactions or severe skin rash; seek urgent care if occurs. Dose adjustments may be needed in liver impairment; avoid alcohol.
