Important Warnings

Do not exceed the recommended dose; overdose can cause hypercalcaemia. Use with caution in kidney disease, kidney stones, hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis, or high calcium/vitamin D levels. Avoid giving alongside other vitamin D/calcium supplements unless advised. Seek medical help if symptoms of high calcium occur (persistent vomiting, constipation, weakness, excessive thirst/urination).

Thiazide diuretics (e.g.
hydrochlorothiazide) may increase risk of hypercalcaemia
digoxin/cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with high calcium)
anticonvulsants (phenytoin
carbamazepine) and rifampicin may reduce vitamin D effect
cholestyramine/orlistat may reduce absorption
corticosteroids may reduce vitamin D action
aluminum/magnesium antacids (caution in renal impairment)
