Levosalbutamol (Levalbuterol) 100 mcg per rotacap (for inhalation)
Relief and prevention of bronchospasm in bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) including chronic bronchitis and emphysema; wheezing and shortness of breath due to reversible airway obstruction.
Levosalbutamol is a selective beta-2 adrenergic agonist that relaxes bronchial smooth muscles. This leads to bronchodilation and improved airflow, reducing wheeze, chest tightness and breathlessness.
For inhalation use only with a compatible rotahaler/rotacap inhaler device (not to be swallowed). Place the rotacap in the device, pierce/rotate as per device instructions and inhale the powder deeply; hold breath for ~10 seconds and exhale slowly. Use the dose and frequency as prescribed; commonly used when needed for symptoms or before exercise. Rinse mouth if advised.
Common side effects of Levolin Rotacaps may include:
Prescription (Schedule H) medicine—use only on medical advice. Not a substitute for regular controller therapy (e.g., inhaled corticosteroid) in persistent asthma. Use with caution in heart disease, arrhythmias, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, and seizure disorders. Excess use may worsen asthma control and can cause serious cardiac effects and low potassium; seek medical help if breathing worsens or relief is inadequate. May cause paradoxical bronchospasm (rare)—stop and seek care. Monitor potassium if on high doses or with interacting medicines.
