Important Warnings

Use only with continuous hemodynamic monitoring. Risk of severe hypertension and reflex bradycardia. Correct hypovolemia before/along with vasopressor use. Caution in ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias, hyperthyroidism, peripheral vascular disease, diabetes, elderly patients. Avoid extravasation (may cause local tissue necrosis); ensure secure IV access. Use with caution in patients with glaucoma and in those receiving other sympathomimetics.

MAO inhibitors (risk of hypertensive crisis)
tricyclic antidepressants/SNRIs (potentiation of pressor effect)
linezolid (pressor response)
halogenated anesthetics (arrhythmia risk)
other vasopressors/sympathomimetics (additive effects)
beta-blockers (may enhance reflex bradycardia)
