Metronidazole 200 mg
Treatment of susceptible anaerobic bacterial and protozoal infections such as amoebiasis (intestinal/extra-intestinal), giardiasis, trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis, dental/gingival infections, and other anaerobic infections as prescribed.
Metronidazole is an antibiotic/antiprotozoal that enters susceptible organisms and is reduced to reactive metabolites. These metabolites damage DNA and inhibit nucleic acid synthesis, leading to death of anaerobic bacteria and protozoa.
Tablet: take exactly as prescribed. Usually taken with or after food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow with water; complete the full course even if you feel better. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after the last dose.

Prescription (Schedule H) medicine—use only under medical advice. Avoid alcohol during therapy and for 48 hours after (risk of disulfiram-like reaction). Use with caution in liver disease (dose adjustment may be needed), history of seizures/neurological disorders, and blood dyscrasias; prolonged use may rarely cause peripheral neuropathy. If severe diarrhea, rash, numbness/tingling, or confusion occurs, seek medical advice. May cause dizziness—use caution while driving/operating machinery.
