Pregabalin 50 mg (hard gelatin capsule)
Neuropathic pain (e.g., diabetic neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia), neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury, fibromyalgia, adjunct treatment of partial-onset seizures, generalized anxiety disorder (where prescribed).
Pregabalin binds to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system. This reduces release of excitatory neurotransmitters and decreases abnormal nerve signal transmission, thereby relieving neuropathic pain and reducing seizure tendency.
Oral capsule. Take exactly as prescribed, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Dose is usually titrated gradually; do not stop suddenly—taper as advised to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
Common side effects of Pregaba 50 Capsule may include:
May cause dizziness and drowsiness—avoid driving/operating machinery until effects are known. Do not stop abruptly; risk of withdrawal symptoms and seizure worsening. Use with caution in kidney disease (dose adjustment required). Risk of edema and weight gain; caution in heart failure. Monitor for mood changes/suicidal thoughts. Hypersensitivity/angioedema and serious skin reactions can occur—seek urgent care if swelling of face/tongue or breathing difficulty occurs.
