How Tenarbi 80 mg Tablet works

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It blocks AT1 receptors, causing relaxation of blood vessels and reduced aldosterone effects, thereby lowering blood pressure and reducing strain on the heart.

How to take Tenarbi 80 mg Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Tenarbi 80 Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

Avoid use in pregnancy (can harm the fetus). Use with caution in kidney or liver impairment, dehydration/volume depletion, and in patients with high potassium. Seek medical help for fainting, severe dizziness, swelling of face/lips, or reduced urine output.

Do not take Tenarbi if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines.

Interactions with other medicines

Potassium supplements/salt substitutes and potassium-sparing diuretics (spironolactone, eplerenone, amiloride) may increase hyperkalemia risk; NSAIDs (ibuprofen, diclofenac) may reduce effect and worsen kidney function; lithium (increased lithium levels/toxicity); other antihypertensives/diuretics (additive low BP); ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (higher risk of kidney problems and hyperkalemia; avoid in diabetics with aliskiren)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.

Take it at the same time every day to help you remember to take it. It can make you feel dizzy for the first few days. Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down for a long time. Your doctor may get regular tests done to monitor the level of urea, creatinine, and potassium in your blood. Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen along with this medicine without consulting your doctor. Do not take Tenarbi 80 Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not stop taking it suddenly without talking to your doctor.
