Important Warnings

Use only in men with confirmed hypogonadism; not for use in women, especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contraindicated in known/suspected prostate or male breast cancer; assess prostate (PSA/DRE) before and during therapy. Monitor hematocrit/hemoglobin (risk of polycythemia/thrombosis), liver function if clinically indicated, lipids and blood pressure; caution in cardiovascular disease, heart failure, kidney disease (fluid retention), sleep apnea and elderly. May suppress spermatogenesis and reduce fertility; caution in men desiring fertility. Misuse/abuse can cause serious cardiovascular, psychiatric and endocrine effects.

Warfarin/other anticoagulants (may increase anticoagulant effect—monitor INR)
insulin and oral antidiabetics (may alter glucose control)
corticosteroids/ACTH (increased edema risk)
cyclosporine (may increase levels/toxicity)
thyroid function tests may be affected (changes in TBG)
