Tamsulosin 0.4 mg (modified-release) + Dutasteride 0.5 mg
Treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH/enlarged prostate) to relieve lower urinary tract symptoms such as weak stream, difficulty starting urination, frequent urination, urgency, and incomplete bladder emptying; helps reduce risk of acute urinary retention and need for BPH-related surgery.
Tamsulosin is an alpha-1A adrenergic blocker that relaxes smooth muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, improving urine flow. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor that lowers dihydrotestosterone (DHT), gradually shrinking the enlarged prostate and preventing progression of BPH.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily after the same meal each day. Swallow the tablet/capsule whole; do not crush or chew (modified-release). Continue regularly; dutasteride benefits may take several months. If a dose is missed, take the next dose at the usual time; do not double.
Common side effects of Urimax D Tablet may include:
May cause dizziness or fainting, especially on standing—rise slowly and avoid driving until effects are known. Tell your doctor if you have low blood pressure, severe liver disease, or planned cataract/glaucoma surgery (risk of intraoperative floppy iris syndrome with tamsulosin). Dutasteride can cause sexual side effects and may affect PSA test results—PSA should be monitored and interpreted accordingly. Dutasteride must not be used in women; pregnant women should not handle broken/crushed tablets/capsules due to risk to a male fetus. Seek urgent help for allergic reaction or painful prolonged erection (rare).
