How Wounsol Ointment Works
Wounsol Ointment is a combination of three medicines: Ornidazole, Povidone Iodine and Sucralfate. Ornidazole is an antibiotic. It kills the bacteria and other microorganisms that cause infections by damaging the DNA. Povidone Iodine is an antiseptic. It slowly releases iodine which kills or prevents the growth of infectious microorganisms. Sucralfate is a protectant which covers the damaged tissue and protects it against injury to facilitate healing.
Dosage & Directions
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
Always follow your doctor's prescription. Do not self-medicate.
Pregnancy
Wounsol Ointment may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.<br>Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
