Suspension
Allergic rhinitis (sneezing, runny/blocked nose, watery eyes), seasonal allergies, allergy-related cough/wheezing; as add-on in asthma/allergy control as advised by doctor
Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks leukotrienes responsible for airway inflammation, mucus and bronchoconstriction. Levocetirizine is an antihistamine that blocks H1 receptors to reduce allergy symptoms like sneezing, itching and runny nose.
Oral suspension: shake well before use. Measure dose with a marked cup/spoon and take as prescribed, usually once daily (often in the evening). Can be taken with or without food; follow doctor’s advice for children.
Drowsiness, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhoea, fatigue
Use with caution in liver disease. May cause sleepiness—avoid driving/operating machinery if affected. Montelukast has been associated with mood/behaviour changes (agitation, abnormal dreams, depression, suicidal thoughts); seek medical help if these occur. Not for acute asthma attacks; keep rescue inhaler available if prescribed. Use in children only under medical supervision.
Alcohol and other CNS depressants (increased drowsiness), sedating antihistamines, opioids/benzodiazepines. Enzyme inducers like rifampicin, phenytoin, phenobarbital may reduce montelukast effect; consult doctor.
Store below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep cap tightly closed; do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
