Relief of productive (wet) cough, chest congestion with thick mucus, bronchitis, asthma/COPD with mucus and wheeze
Ambroxol is a mucolytic that thins and loosens mucus. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that helps expel phlegm by increasing airway secretions. Terbutaline is a bronchodilator (beta-2 agonist) that relaxes airway muscles to ease breathing and wheezing.
Take by mouth using a measuring cup/spoon. Usually taken 2-3 times daily or as directed by the doctor; may be taken with or after food to reduce stomach upset. Drink adequate fluids and do not exceed the prescribed dose.
Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, tremor, palpitations, nervousness, throat irritation, rash
Use with caution in heart disease, high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, seizure disorder, and in patients with arrhythmias. May cause tremor/palpitations; stop and seek medical help if severe allergy (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty) occurs. Not for self-medication in children, or if cough persists >7 days, is recurrent, or is associated with high fever, chest pain or blood in sputum—consult a doctor.
Beta-blockers (may reduce effect of terbutaline), other sympathomimetics (increased side effects), MAO inhibitors/tricyclic antidepressants (may increase cardiovascular effects), diuretics/corticosteroids (risk of low potassium with beta-2 agonists), digoxin (arrhythmia risk if hypokalemia), theophylline (additive stimulation)
Store below 25°C, protect from light, keep bottle tightly closed, do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
