Prevention and long-term management of angina pectoris (chest pain) due to coronary artery disease
How It Works
Glyceryl trinitrate releases nitric oxide in vascular smooth muscle, causing vasodilation. This reduces venous return (preload) and cardiac workload, lowering myocardial oxygen demand and helping prevent angina episodes.
Directions for Use
Take exactly as prescribed. Swallow capsule whole; do not crush or chew. Usually taken 1-2 times daily; maintain a nitrate-free interval if advised. Can be taken with or without food.
May cause significant hypotension and dizziness; avoid driving if symptomatic. Do not use for acute angina relief unless specifically prescribed for that purpose. Use caution in dehydration, low BP, severe anaemia, recent head injury/raised intracranial pressure. Do not stop abruptly without medical advice.
