Avas 5 Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Use with caution
Avas 5 Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Avas 5 Tablet is recommended.<br>However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Avas 5 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Avas 5 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.<br>Use of Avas 5 Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.

High cholesterol (hypercholesterolaemia), mixed dyslipidaemia, prevention of cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke) in at-risk patients
Atorvastatin inhibits HMG‑CoA reductase, a key enzyme in cholesterol synthesis in the liver. This lowers LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides and can raise HDL (good cholesterol), reducing atherosclerotic risk.
Take as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Continue diet and exercise advice; do not stop without medical advice.
Headache, nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain, indigestion, muscle pain (myalgia), weakness, elevated liver enzymes
Not recommended in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Use with caution in liver disease, heavy alcohol use, hypothyroidism, kidney problems, or history of muscle disorders. Seek urgent care for unexplained muscle pain/weakness, fever, or dark urine (risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis). Monitor liver function as advised.
Macrolide antibiotics (clarithromycin, erythromycin), azole antifungals (itraconazole, ketoconazole), HIV/HCV protease inhibitors, cyclosporine, gemfibrozil/other fibrates, niacin, colchicine, warfarin (monitor INR), amiodarone, verapamil/diltiazem, grapefruit juice (may increase levels)
